A focused practice task gives a team something specific to attempt, discuss and improve. Start with a question they are likely to hear, then use approved information to prepare the answer.
Choose one task
Focus on explaining the offering, answering a question or involving the right specialist. Keep the exercise narrow enough for people to attempt it and compare their responses.
Separate facts from assumptions
Ask participants to identify what the source confirms, what is missing and what would need expert review. Then have them write or speak a short answer.
Review the answer and the next action
Does the response answer the question without guessing? Does it explain what happens next and who is responsible? A manager can use those questions in a later workplace trial.
Practice reveals what the team can do in the exercise. A later workplace review is needed to understand how well it transfers to the job.
